Creativity for the holidays

This year I was cre­ative for the hol­i­days, cre­at­ing and shar­ing pho­to albums with fam­i­ly mem­bers and knit­ting my first baby blanket.

Reliv­ing mem­o­ries and deter­min­ing how to dis­play them took time, some emo­tion­al reg­u­la­tion (as I reliv­ed those expe­ri­ences), and cre­ativ­i­ty for place­ment, size, pat­terns on a page. Learn­ing how to knit, which I’d only been intro­duced to before, took time, per­se­ver­ance and time allot­ment over sev­er­al months. For com­plet­ing these projects, I ben­e­fit­ed from sched­ul­ing blocks of time and set­ting a timer, with breaks for move­ment, oth­er tasks, life … These projects tru­ly defined “labor of love” for me, and were warm­ly wel­comed by fam­i­ly members.
